Senior Bowl
--Game Day: Saturday, January 30 (4 ET)
January 28 -- North Practice Thoughts:
Kyle Wilson
Players at the North practice didn’t wear pads today, so the scouting was limited at most positions. Players did several agility and catching drills, but practice was much more laid-back. It was a great day to get up close to the players during practice and get some action photos. The circus of South practices doesn’t set up shop for the North, so setting up some interviews after practice was much easier today.

Although practice wasn’t so fast today, I did make a couple observations. Kyle Wilson continued to show he can stay with any receiver. I have some questions about his physicality in tackling, but obviously have not been able to scout his tackling ability much this week. I’ll be interested to watch him during the game. I have been impressed with his play recognition, though.

While watching tight end drills, I was impressed with Oregon’s Ed Dickson’s leaping ability and hands, but he seemed to get on his toes too much while blocking as opposed to staying on the balls of his feet and driving. Garrett Graham was having some problems with his quickness. His stock has been falling this week after a couple rough days at practice.

We had the pleasure of running into Rob Engle of Draft Breakdown at practice today. I have to give props to he and Breakdown for quality draft coverage. It was great meeting him and best of luck to Draft Breakdown in the future.

We’ll be providing a game preview tomorrow afternoon for the game, so make sure to stay tuned for that.

Vladimir Ducasse
I spent the morning really analyzing Vladimir Ducasse and his footwork. He was one of the prospects I was most excited to see this week, but so far I have been unimpressed, especially at left tackle. He is regularly beat by speed and really needs to improve his lateral movement.

During every practice the Lions have done agility drills using cones with their offensive linemen. Their straight line and lateral speed were measured today with a stopwatch, my results are listed below. The drill moved too fast to get results for everyone.
  Straight Line: Lateral: Feet Shuffle:
  Vladimir Ducasse 2.93 3.07 6.00
  Matt Tennant 2.65 2.58 6.00
  Ed Wang 3.14   5.65
  Zane Beadles   2.72 6.07
  Sam Young     5.79
  Mike Iupati     5.10

As we’ve reported all week, Ducasse is slower than many of the other linemen. For someone projected to go as high as the second round, I’m not sold at all. I personally wouldn’t consider him until the middle rounds, though based on what I’ve seen this week, I would avoid him all together.
